What kind of dogs do you have? We have a German Shepherd and her own hoard of kitties. She's the cat herder. For me it's her and the orange tabby. We say he's her boyfriend.

We have two dogs now, females. Our Staffie died 3 months ago from an invasive tumor, she was 6 years old.

Then we have a little 8 month old boxer and a 2 year old Malinois. Everyone gets along wonderfully, with the cats too.
For the farm animals, good understanding begins to come.
The Boxer arrived at our home as a baby, however the Malinoise is an adoption, we picked her up at the age of 7 months. She is adorable and very active.

Our Shepard, Gigi, was found on a local mountain(think park, rather than large looming mountain). She was tied to a tree in 115 F weather. Luckily a friend found her. Now that's she's calmed down, she great. Every once in a while, she'll sneak out of the house. Luckily so far no cars have gotten her. When we had to put down our family dog, a Shih Tzu, Buddy, in 2009, I barely made it out of the vets office. It's hard letting them go.
